Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is an autonomous research university in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. IIT Roorkee, which was founded in 1847 as Thomason College of Civil Engineering, is Asia’s oldest technical institution. IIT Roorkee’s main campus covers 358.5 acres in Roorkee, Haridwar District. IIT Roorkee has two more campuses: one in Saharanpur (about 30 km from Roorkee) and one in Greater Noida.

IIT Roorkee Admissions 2025
IIT Roorkee admission to B.Tech programmes is based on JEE Advanced 2024. The exam for IIT admission will be held on May 26. This is followed by a joint seat allocation process which is called JoSAA. For admission in the M.Des programme at IIT Roorkee, CEED 2024 result is out on ceed.iitb.ac.in. UCEED 2024 results for B.Des admission is available on uceed.iitb.ac.in. Scorecards of UCEED 2024 and CEED 2024 will be available for download on March 11, 2024.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee offers Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Management programmes. They are the four main areas of study. Admission to all courses is based purely on entrance exam scores obtained by the candidate. These courses are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with Doctoral programmes. A four-year B.Tech, five-year B.Arch, and dual degree programmes and also M.Tech, M.Des, M.Arch, MBA, M.Sc and PhD degrees are offered here. Advanced Certificate and PG Diploma programmes in Data Science, Machine Learning and AI can also be availed by students. The IIT Roorkee fees for the courses offered range from Rs 8 – 10 lakh approximately. This will vary according to the degree level and duration of the course.
For IIT Roorkee admissions candidates must meet the eligibility criteria mentioned by the institute and apply for the desired course. Once the application process is completed, the selections will start by considering the scores obtained in the entrance exams like JEE Main, GATE, CAT, NET, NATA, etc. The shortlisted candidates will then go for a Group Discussion or Personal Interview round or both.
