JIPMER Puducherry, or Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, is a public institute established in 1823. In 2008, the government of India declared JIPMER as an Institution of National Importance (INI). It is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
