About NIT Trichy
National Institute of Technology Trichy is situated in the Tiruchirappalli division of Tamilnadu. It was established as a joint venture of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of India in 1964. NIT Trichy was formerly known as the Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappalli. With the approval of the Government of India, NIT Trichy was granted deemed university status in 2003. M.Tech and B.Tech are among the popular NIT Trichy courses. Scores of JEE Main are considered for NIT Trichy B.Tech admissions. As per the NIT Trichy admission criteria, for B.Tech, one has to participate in the JoSAA counselling, whereas, for M.Tech, aspirants have to participate in the CCMT counselling.
The rankings for 2024 have been released on the NIRF official website. NIT Trichy NIRF Ranking 2024 for the Architecture and Planning category is 8th. The ranking is released every year by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, based on various parameters, namely Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Peer Perception. As per the NIRF Ranking 2024, NIT Trichy has bagged the 9th position in the engineering category.

NIT Trichy Admission 2025
NIT Trichy admission 2025 for B.Tech courses are expected to begin from June 2025, along with the JoSAA counselling registrations. Candidates who have qualified JEE Main will be eligible to participate in the counselling process. For admission to the M.Tech course, a GATE score is considered. To gain admission to NIT Trichy, candidates must first fill out the application form available on the official website. After successfully completing the application, they can proceed with the NIT Trichy admission process. Only those who pass the entrance exam will be considered for admission. Additional details about the NIT Trichy selection process are provided below. It’s important to note that candidates must submit the NIT Trichy application fee and other required documents along with their application. Final admission will only be granted to those who successfully clear all rounds. After passing the entrance exam, candidates will participate in either counselling or an interview/group discussion, depending on the course they’ve applied for. The registration process for M.Tech and M.Arch is conducted offline, while the process for PhD and MS by Research is conducted online.
NIT Trichy Admission Process 2025 through Entrance Exam
Step 1: Before starting with the NIT Trichy admission process, candidates must keep the following in mind:

- Next, candidates must apply, appear and qualify:

- First and foremost, candidates need to visit the respective entrance exam official website or apply via NIT Trichy official website.
- Next, candidates need to register themselves and fill up the application form online.
- After filling up the necessary details, candidates need to attach the documents as requested in the application form.
- Next, candidates need to save the application form and submit it.
- After submission, candidates will be directed to the payment page, wherein they need to pay the entrance exam fees.
- This will mark the end of the NIT Trichy application process. Candidates must keep a copy of the submitted application form along with the payment receipt for future references if any.
Step 3: After the application is submitted candidates will be shortlisted for counselling or group discussion and personal interview depending on the respective NIT Trichy courses selection process. The basis of the evaluation will be based on the entrance test cut-off.
NIT Trichy JoSAA cut off 2025 will be considered for admission in B.Tech and B.Arch programme for the year 2025. NIT Trichy GATE cut off 2025 will be considered for admission in M.Tech for 2025. Similarly, NIT Trichy JAM cut off 2025 and CAT cut off 2022 will be considered for admission into 2025.
Step 4: Shortlisted candidates then need to register for counselling as well as pay the counselling fee. The counselling will be conducted by the respective conductive bodies based on the entrance exams where candidates need to select NIT Trichy as their preferred institute.
For NIT Trichy B.Tech and B.Arch admission, the counselling body is JoSAA, for M.Tech the counselling body in CCMT, for MSc admission the counselling body is CCMN.
