Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy, also commonly known as SASTRA University, is a private and deemed university located in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. The university was the first-ever to get the status of a deemed university in Tamil Nadu. SASTRA was conferred deemed-to-be-university status in 2001 by the UGC. The university also has an off-campus at Kumbakonam, Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre (SRC). SASTRA University has been accredited by NAAC with an “A++” grade. The university is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE.
SASTRA University offers a total of 12 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels of education. According to the NIRF past ranking, SASTRA University placed 34th in the engineering category, 15th in the legal category, 26th in the university category, and 49th overall. Last year, in the World Rankings and the Asia University Rankings, SASTRA University had bagged a commendable ranking among the private universities in India. SASTRA University campus is spread across 20 acres of land. Classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, sports, etc., are some of the facilities available.

SASTRA University Courses and Fees 2025
SASTRA University fees range from Rs 30,000 to Rs 93,95,400 depending on the course. The courses at university are offered at UG and PG levels in multiple streams including engineering, management, science, commerce, arts, computer applications, etc. Some of the popular courses offered by SASTRA University include BTech, BSc, BCom, MSc, MTech, MBA, etc. The university also offers integrated programmes in BTech + MTech, BSc BEd, and BA BEd. Various specialisations are also offered under BTech programme at SASTRA University including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science engineering, etc.
Admission to SASTRA University courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam and entrance exams. Some of the entrance exams accepted for SASTRA University admission are JEE Main for BTech, GATE for MTech, CAT/ CMAT/ XAT for MBA, etc.

SASTRA University Hostel Fees Structure
SASTRA University provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The hostels can accommodate over 4000 boys and 2400 girls. The hostels offer a variety of room types, including single rooms, double occupancy, triple occupancy, and quad occupancy rooms. There are options with and without attached bathrooms. Additional facilities offered by SASTRA University along with hostels include wifi, 24/7 security, mess, canteen, study room, etc.
