IGIMS Patna was founded on November 19, 1983, as an autonomous institution modelled after the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. The goal was to provide super-speciality medical services within Bihar. IGMS Patna courses include BSc, MBBS, BDS, MD, M.Ch, and Diploma. IGMS Patna is a government college located in Patna, Bihar.

IGIMS Patna fees range from Rs 30000 to Rs 600000 per year, depending on the degree level, duration and specialization of the course. The college offers 42 courses at UG, Diploma, Ph.D and PG programmes. Furthermore, IGIMS Patna offers 2 courses in BSc, 1 courses in MBBS at the UG level. At the PG level, the students can choose a wide range of specializations – 18 courses in MD, 6 course in MCh. Admission to IGIMS Patna courses are open for the academic year 2024-25.
