KMC Mangalore
Admission to the MBBS program at Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Mangalore is based on NEET UG scores. The NEET UG 2024 results have been announced on the official NTA website.
Established in 1955, KMC Mangalore is part of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education and was the first self-financing medical college in India. It’s recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), the General Medical Council (UK), and the Malaysian Medical Council. It has a strong global reputation for medical education and research and ranked 9th in NIRF 2023.
KMC has received recognition from bodies like ECFMG (USA) and holds the highest number of ICMR STS awards in India. It offers various UG and PG courses in fields such as general surgery, gynaecology, anaesthesiology, anatomy, and urology.
The college provides modern infrastructure including a well-stocked library, labs, hostels, cafeteria, sports facilities, and 24/7 Wi-Fi. It also houses KMC Hospital, Attavar—a 600-bed multi-speciality hospital known for quality care and diagnostics.
NIMHANS Bangalore
NIMHANS Bangalore (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences) is a public deemed university established in 1974, located in Bangalore, Karnataka. Recognised by the UGC, it has 26 departments such as Biostatistics, Biophysics, and Human Genetics, and 16 Centres of Excellence, including the Advanced Centre for Ayurveda, Centre for Public Health, and Center for Addiction Medicine.
Ranked 4th in the medical category by NIRF 2023, NIMHANS offers postgraduate and doctoral-level courses like MD in Psychiatry, M.Ch in Neurosurgery, M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing, and DM in Neuropathology. Admissions are mainly through an online entrance test, while MD in Psychiatry requires the INI-CET conducted by AIIMS Delhi.
Spread over 135+ acres, the campus provides facilities like hostels, gym, library, canteen, sports complex, labs, transportation, and banking. The placement cell helps students secure jobs before graduation. According to the 2022 NIRF report, 92 students were placed in 2021, with median salary packages of ₹6 LPA for 3-year UG and ₹7.2 LPA for 4-year UG courses.
